We really wanted Create Live to help spark that change within the communities and to open up opportunity.
Within a week of our inspiration we set up the venue and time. The event was cast live on the internet and we had a packed house. Marketing firms, designers, artists and crafters all came out to co-work, collaborate, network and watch as the live artist (me) created an original piece before the camera. The local media was all over it. Over 200 visitors online and a few visiting out of state fans really inspired us to continue further. We had our second Create Live two weeks ago, again in the Phoenix area, which continued this collaborative community among creatives and techies.
We wanted to see the event go beyond Phoenix, Arizona and into the US. Artists could benefit from the exposure and the networking. Tech could enjoy something outside the norm. It seemed natural to us to make it a go.
So, here we are, only 3 days from our first Seattle Create Live, NYC Create Live coming in October and tentative dates in SF, LA, Detroit and St. Louis. The art and tech communities are coming together to share ideas, boost creativity and build connections with each other.
We hope that in the midst of this, the awareness of art’s symbiotic relationship with tech and the possibilities within both industries will open up.
