It should be your passion. Just because you can make good money selling your work does not mean you should dump your job of 20 years and go for the gold! It doesn’t equal income.
Many famous artists and writers had other careers to make a living, so don’t be dissapointed if you can’t pursue art as a full time career. It’s foolish to think that it’s a requirement to becoming a successful and established artist. Look at Da Vinci and you see he had other projects going on. Not just because he was a genius! Writers like James Herriot became successful writers of books that related to their personal experiences. Art is a skill and talent that is fueled by your creative energy and passion.
